Hello everyone, I just wanted to wish all PSSA members seasons greetings and a very happy new year for 2009, Checking back over the last few years the weather has been very unkind to us PSS flyer's, last year the worst, when looking at the events calendar nearly all the meetings were canceled for 2008, There was a time when even if the weather looked to be unfavorable some of us would still make long journeys in the hope of getting at least a couple of flights in, Fuel prices last year increasing to over £1.20 per liter put a stop on that front for a great number of us, me included. But now let us hope with the cost of fuel at last back down to prices of four years ago things will get better and attendance at future hopefully organized events will increase, There appears to be a great number of new names on our members list, lets hope we can put faces to names in the future along with a batch of new models to admire and see fly, All we need now is some good weather, lets keep our hopes up. Good luck to all members for 2009 and kind regards to all from Steve B

Ill drink to that Flyboy 2008 was indeed pretty awful with weather playing havoc with our planned PSS events throughout the season. I for one did a lot of miles and arrived at a number of very scenic locations with my models only to sit out none suitable weather.
Ive got new models from last season still awaiting their first event, and more new machines on the way in the workshop, so Im looking forward to better weather and better attendance at our events too.
All the best for a memorable 09 happy landings Phil Cooke

Thanks for the reply Phil, like wise I have models waiting to head for the sky, I have new models in my head that im going to build in the future and about 4 models half completed,
Two and a half years ago I moved over here to West Wales from Buckinghamshire, yet with slopes from southwest, west, round to north just a half mile walk from our home, I have managed to go flying just twice in all this time, Not sure about you but I for one can not get used to this global warming, :-)
Strangley I have seen a couple of lads flying electric powered model gliders from the beach, (when the tides out of course) this might be the way forward,
The lift from our cliff tops is brilliant when the wind is in the right direction, I put my old Ripmax Spitfire out over the lift for my first flight here, that was in August 2006, Well thanks again I will try to make at least a few of the events this year, hopefully bump in to you sometime in the future, Kind regards Steve B

Roll on the new season, I've had a busy winter and should start '09 with 4 unflown PSS airframes amongst others. There's loads more I could do but I have another commitment I want to get done first.
