I have almost finished my first model the lavochkin la5-fn, its, 39.5 span and a target weight of 22 ozs. not the simplest model to get back into swing with, but it's all wood construction no foam which is good when you don't have (or ever used) a hot wire cutter!. I would like to use a light glass cloth, but would that make it a bit heavy? and using a cammo sceme, shiny solar stuff i don't think will work...any ideas guys?? P.S where can i get a cocpit/canopy for it from??

Can you let me know how it went with the brown paper etc? I have a foamie I want to recover, as the solar-tex is coming away quickly, and I think it may solve my problem.
Thanks Dave

Hi Dave well the wings were easy i used two coats ...and got a nice smooth finish.....the body was harder because the paper started to peel when sanding.....so i gave it a thin coat of interior varnish.....which hardend the paper ....took longer to sand but got a nice finish hope that helps ....Dave John
