Hi there everyone,
Has anyone got a kit of the Ashford Models MB339 model in a box, or even a smashed up kit in their loft ?
I want to build one (or more if required), but I need a set of foam bits to copy.
The canopy used is the same as The Skyway's BAe Hawk (see below) so I can get others made if required via Vortex probably.
I also have a Skyway's Models BAe Hawk kit new in the box, so I could maybe cut a set of foam bits for a kit if someone wanted one subject to costs.
Yours,
Gordon Fraser.
P.S. I am a truck driver by trade, so I can be hard to get hold of most of the time. Please email me direct OK.

Hi Gordon, I was the original co-designer of the MB339 that became the kit offered by Ashford models. Unfortunately they went out of business around the same time and I don’t think many kits were sold in consequence. After many years absence I have been bitten by the PSS bug again and will be designing another 339 perhaps as a winter project. I will probably start a build thread on this forum when I do. Best regards Grahame Algar First PSSA meeting: www.pssaonline.co.uk/designer-tech/Q&EFI%20Power%20Scale%20Soaring%20History%20Part%201.htm

Hi All this is my first post on this forum. I have also been bitten by the soaring bug and have been slowly sell of most of my power models. I am very interested in the MB339. if and when you start I would love to see a build thread, and would certainly buy a set of plans. I have just purchased a book Building with foam by Keith Sparks and found I very educational and would love to learn more. it looks a nice quick and cheap way of building models. I am about to start on the jet provost plan (when It arrives from traplet) as my first PSS. Not a popular design according to PSS but built light it should be a good model to keep it the boot of the car. Mike.

Hi Mike,
I have been looking at the MB 339 again and about to start designing and building. This one will probably be a conventional built up fuz planked and sheeted rather than using the foam method.
If I do a build thread I will probably link it to RC Groups so as to post pictures and drawings. I am looking at a size around 55in span and as close to scale as I can make it!!
The Traplet jet provost looks a good choice and I will love to know how you get on with it! If I was to do one I would like to build a Strike Master variant.
Cheers for now
Gray.

Hi Seahawk, This is a model I remember very well, I know Ian Mander from F2A supplies in Stoney Stratford tried to do some thing with the patterns from Ashford Models, I know he had these and other patterns for a while, Ian built a prototype 339 and I remember him flying it at Ivinghoe beacon this must be over 20 years ago now maybe more, I remember him muttering it needed a glass fuz, the model as I remember was all foam and veneer, with the canopy and air intakes being vacuum formed, I was one of Ians friends and customers at the time and I think I have a pair of the air intake vacuum formings for this model in a box some where my loft, I will have a good look next time im up there, Ian Mander moved to Cambridge New Zealand must be 9/10 years ago now and did have a web site listed as Cambridge Models nz, not sure if he is still there or not, might be worth a quick search, anyway I will look for the mouldings and drop you a line on here again if I still have them, my mail address is available on here Regards flyboy47
