Phil,
I think you have hit on the best answer there. However, to follow Andy's post, here is what I have:
Hawk100 14 oz/sqft Tucano 14 oz/sqft FJ-4 Fury 12 oz/sqft Vulcan 12.5 oz/sqft
and all fly in good winds on big slopes, as did my Tempest Mk1 at 14 oz/sqft, and my first Hawk at 12 oz/sqft.
The Fury was very happy in 20mph off Titlington Pike on its first outing, and had no penetration problems; I expect it to perform OK in higher wind speeds. My second (and lighter, 13 oz/sqft) Hawk T1 was great in 40mph off Pendle some years ago. I think there is more to be said for flying at a low AoA and keeping drag down than is generally realised. I also have planned a P51 at the same wing loading as Andy's (the same model, in fact) and a Vultee Vengeance at around 12-13 oz/sqft.

Hi guys. It seems that I have stirred up a wirlwind of debate here. Chaos, panic and disorder..... My work here is done! ONLY JOKING! ;D Having been through all the links, I came across the Vortex-Vacform website. The models look really impressive. Has anybody out there built one yet?
Mac.

Fireblade, anything which gets a bit of debate and discussion going is welcome. Didn't see any chaos, panic or disorder, though
